5 Educate and train graduate degree recipients who possess the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute effectively to their professions and society Quan Survey graduate degree recipients to determine post-graduation employment and/or further education activities and to determine the percent of graduates who are satisfied that their major courses prepared them for contributing to their professions and to society. The survey will be conducted by mail and sent to a sample of graduates. NA Alumni were surveyed in spring 1996. Eighty-two percent of graduate degree recipients said their degree aided them somewhat or very much in advancing their career, 75% believe their program of study enhanced their ability to get or keep their job, and 55% said their experience at CU-Denver thoroughly prepared them for the world of work. BP Utilize school and college advisory boards that include community and business representatives Yes All schools/colleges and many units within schools/colleges have their own advisory boards. There is variation in how often boards meet and how extensively they are utilized. More frequent and complete utilization campus wide would be desirable. Deans' Offices keep records of membership and activity.
BP Consult advisory boards regularly to elicit information about the skills and abilities needed in graduates Yes, some schools/colleges There is some variation in extent to which boards are used for this purpose. Business, Engineering, Education, Arch & Plng. make extensive use of advisory boards for this purpose. Deans' Offices keep records of this activity.
BP Evaluate the curriculum through periodic program reviews and outcomes assessment. Ensure that program goals are articulated and that the curriculum meets the goals of the program. Identify areas in need of improvement. Yes Outcome Assessments done annually in some units. Program reviews with internal and external reviewers done about every five years to identify strengths, weaknesses and strategies for improvement/goal alignment. Reports on Outcomes Assessment and program reviews available in Academic Affairs.
