The Director of Professional Development Programs
(non-credit) for the College of Business reports to the Dean and has
responsibility for developing and managing a full range of non-credit
professional development programs and continuing education activities,
including certificate programs, workshops, courses, conferences, and distance
education programs. The responsibilities
include program planning and development, staffing, budget, management,
marketing, and reporting.
Specific Duties:
- Write
and implement specific short term and long range strategic and operational
plans for the program.
- Work
closely with the Dean, other college administrators, and faculty to
identify, plan and conduct a variety of continuing education activities,
emphasizing professional development opportunities for practitioners in
business-related fields.
- Develop
and administer budgets for both the overall operation and for each of the
individual programs and activities conducted within the program.
- Establish
and maintain close relationships with other key resource departments
within the university, including (but not limited to) Academic Affairs,
the Office of Publications and Public Relations, the Accounting Office,
and the Budget Office.
- Strategically
market non-credit professional development programs, and the College of
Business itself, using all marketing opportunities to increase the visibility
and reputation of the college, the programs, and the university in
general.
- Work
with representatives of business, industry, government and professional
organizations, and other colleges on campus to build mutually beneficial
relationships which contribute to the advancement of the Non-credit
Professional Development Program and the College of Business.
- Actively
pursue all opportunities to conduct non-credit professional development
programs using state-of-the-art educational technologies and delivery
systems.
- Generate
reports on a regular basis that monitor the status of the Non-credit
Professional Development Program.
- Assess
on a continuing basis all aspects of the Non-credit Professional
Development Program operations, recommending and implementing changes for
program improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in business or related field is
required. Candidates should have a
minimum of 3-5 years experience in successfully marketing educational programs
and negotiating training contracts with the business community. Supervisory experience is required. Candidates must also be knowledgeable about
trends in corporate education. Superior
written and oral communication skills are essential.
