Empowering Well-Being and Safety Across Campus

CU Denver has launched a Mental Health and Well-Being Initiative to support the growing need for accessible mental health services. Below you’ll find a list of resources available to CU Denver’s community. 

For Students:

  • CU Denver Student and Community Counseling Center: Provides CU Denver students with a free initial intake and up to 10 free individual sessions per calendar year. The center also provides mental health crisis services, testing and assessments, and other resources.
  • Office of Case Management: Provides support with intervention and advocacy, resource referrals, navigating university systems, and more.
  • Basic Needs: Offers food assistance through CU Denver’s on-campus food pantry Milo’s Market, emergency funding, benefits support through the free screening tool MyFriendBen, and more.
  • Disability Resources & Services: Provides support in coordinating and managing accommodations and provides advocacy and resources.
  • Student Conduct & Community Standards: Addresses behaviors that impact our community through educational and restorative practices.
  • Health & Wellness Resources: Offers student resources for mental, physical, and financial health needs. 
  • Housing & Dining: Committed to promoting a safe and secure on-campus living environment. Staff are available and on-call 24 hours a day to respond to emergency situations.  
  • Campus Assessment, Response, and Evaluation (CARE) Team: Helps students create plans to confront difficulties while providing support and resources. If you are worried about a fellow student, notice changes in their behavior, or believe they could benefit from additional support, submit a referral to the CARE Team. 
  • TELUS Health App: Connects students with free, confidential mental health and well-being support 24/7 via the TELUS Health Student Support app (on Apple’s App Store or Google Play).
  • Phoenix Center at Auraria: Supports survivors of interpersonal violence (including relationship violence, sexual violence, family violence, stalking, and others) through campus response services, education, and facilitated dialogue. The 24/7 helpline number is 303-556-2255. 
  • Auraria Crisis Line: After-hours mental health support and victim assistance. Available by phone at 303-615-9911. 
  • Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: 24/7 emotional support. The line to call or text is three easy numbers: 988.  

For Faculty and Staff:

  • CU Denver Crisis/Emergency Information and Resources: Lists resources for crisis counseling, personal crises, concerns about employee or student behavior, and more. 
  • Colorado State Employee Assistance Program (for classified staff): Free resource to all state employees offering mental health counseling, critical incident response, mediation, and more. Call 303-866-4314 or 1-800-821-8154 for more information.
  • The Real Help Hotline: Employees covered under any of CU’s medical insurance plans can use the hotline for access to professional counselors who can help find local resources or provide immediate crisis counseling. This free and confidential service is available 24/7. 
  • Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: The line to call or text is now three easy numbers: 988. 

Campus Safety

CU Denver requires university ID badges to be visibly displayed at all times when on campus. We encourage our campus community members to check the CU Denver Emergency Management Division website for campus safety updates and use the website to make sure you are signed up for emergency text and email alerts. The Auraria Police Department is available at 303-556-5000.
