July - September 2026 Progress Report
The University of Colorado Denver is committed to ongoing digital accessibility initiatives aligned with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, levels A and AA criteria. Level A represents the minimum level of accessibility, addressing basic web features necessary for some users to access content, while Level AA provides a more comprehensive standard that accommodates a wider range of users and situations. These efforts aim to enhance accessibility for users with sensory, cognitive, and mobility disabilities, fostering an inclusive online environment for all individuals. The university’s commitment to equal access to IT has been more formally stated through the publication of an Information Technology (IT) Digital Accessibility Policy.
Organizational Efforts
Digital Accessibility Committee (DAC)
In Progress: The Digital Accessibility Committee (DAC) serves as the University of Colorado Denver’s organizational authority for digital accessibility.
The DAC operates through focused subcommittees, including Web; Education & Support; and Software & Procurement. These subcommittees coordinate planning, reporting, and documentation of digital accessibility efforts across the institution, with an emphasis on documenting progress, clarifying ownership, and identifying areas requiring further coordination or resourcing. A new AI for Digital Accessibility subcommittee, has been established in collaboration with the AI Coordinator & Adoption Lead. Cross campus discussions have also begun to identify and coordinated related resources.
Upon the hiring (April 1, 2026) of the CU Denver Digital Accessibility Lead new collaboration efforts have been put in place with University of Colorado Anschutz. Cross campus initiatives are being planned and implemented. Both Anschutz and Denver participated in their corresponding Block Parties for engagement with faculty, staff and students.
Cross Campus Partnership
Following new alignment with the DAC, regular meetings with the CU Anschutz Digital Accessibility Program Manager and administration is occurring and increasing. As the main point of contact, the lead is spreading awareness to various groups across campus, collating and responding to digital accessibility feedback, inquiries, supporting requests and complaints/notifications from faculty, staff and students. New collaboration with the Center for Innovative Design and Engineering (CIDE) has been initiated. There continues to be communication between the DAC and Disability Resource Services (DRS) and Human Resources (HR). CU Cross campus Digital Accessibility Meetups meet bi-monthly and are ongoing. These are open to anyone who is interested. System-wide quarterly meetings are ongoing.
Feedback is being collected by CU Anschutz on needs for captioning resources, which will inform future cross campus collaboration on captioning tools and processes.
In addition, CU Denver is conducting an overarching Digital Accessibility confidential survey to better understand faculty experiences with digital accessibility, identify training and support needs and inform improvements to resources and communication.
Web Subcommittee
In Progress: The web subcommittee took a break over the summer and met on Sept. 9. During this meeting we introduced new co-chairs and discussed the possibility of updating our goals. The subcommittee plans to meet in October to finalize updates. For now, we are operating with our previous goals.
- Goal 1: Assess CU Denver’s compliance with level A and AA WCAG standards, including web-hosted PDF files.
- Most members have reported progress in collaborating with their campus partners to improve existing sites and PDFs by evaluating materials, removing outdated information, developing remediation plans for PDFs as needed, and providing education and resources to gain understanding of the importance of accessibility compliance.
- Goal 2: Measure and report progress in Siteimprove, CU Denver’s automated accessibility checker.
- With the migration of the CU Denver site into CU HyperLynx, subcommittee members from University Communications are working on updating the ownership of groups within Siteimprove and exploring the possibility of updating reporting options for site managers. These efforts are intended to strengthen accessibility monitoring.
- Goal 3: Create a user-friendly central web page for digital accessibility information and resources.
- The Digital Accessibility reporting site was migrated into the new CMS, CU HyperLynx, and has been updated quarterly with Progress reports.
Education and Support Subcommittee
In Progress: This quarter the Training and Support subcommittee rebranded to the Education and Support subcommittee The Education and Support subcommittee took a break over the summer, but had it’s first committee meeting on Thursday, September 24. The subcommittee is still recruiting new members, if you are interested in joining please contact Jennifer Fox (jennifer.fox@ucdenver.edu ) and Gillian Lazzarini (gillian.lazzarini@ucdenver.edu).
The goals for the subcommittee include:
- Create digital accessibility guideline documents for campus subgroups, like adjunct faculty, student organization leaders, and staff.
- Support the piloting of a PDF remediation tool, coming soon.
- Create a network of digital accessibility ambassadors for faculty and staff across the campus to spread disability awareness and support.
Software and Procurement Subcommittee
In Progress: Recruitment efforts are ongoing. In parallel, we are temporarily pausing other goal-specific work as we strengthen alignment with the Risk and Compliance (RAC) team. We expect to refine our goals through this process and relaunch targeted work in October. Administative level talks have been intiated to strengthen current processes for ensuring accessibility of procured software.
Report and Response Subcommittee
Completed: The transition to the TeamDynamix platform was completed. TeamDynamix will be used to manage digital accessibility barrier reports for the CU Denver campus.
- This is being retired as part of the cross campus realignment efforts. Team Dynamix is in place for all digital accessibility reporting. The community as a whole can report a barrier, request website accessibility support and a digital accessibility consultation. There are two sites; Digital Accessibility Service Page through Team Dynamix and CU Denver Campus Accessibility. Requests can continue to be made through digitalaccessibility@cuanschutz.edu, and the newly added digitalaccessibility@cudenver.edu. As always, all digital accessibility reports can be made via calling the Service Desk 303-724-4357 (4-HELP from a campus phone).
- A service routing procedure has been tested and implemented. A backup reporting process has been identified.
- Development of a knowledge base for TDX is in progress.
Appendix A: Accessibility Status Snapshot
(April 24 Title II Checkpoint)
Purpose and Use
This appendix provides a high‑level snapshot of the University of Colorado Denver and University of Colorado Anschutzdigital accessibility collaborative efforts related to federal ADA Title II requirements, identifying areas where work is underway and areas requiring further coordination, planning, or resourcing. It supplements DAC subcommittee reporting and quarterly progress reports and is intended to reflect institution‑level awareness and documented progress rather than a remediation plan or technical audit.

April 24, 2026 is the federal ADA Title II digital accessibility compliance date. This snapshot presents a point‑in‑time view of CU Denver’s documented progress toward that requirement, including active efforts and known areas needing additional coordination or resourcing, and should not be read as confirmation of full compliance across all digital systems. An interim final rule issued by the U.S. Department of Justice extended the compliance deadline to April, 26, 2027.
