Admission Requirements
If you have taken any college-level coursework at a regionally accredited college after high school graduation (or equivalent), you will be evaluated as a transfer student. If your only college coursework was taken while concurrently enrolled in high school (prior to graduation), you will be evaluated for freshman/first-year admission.
Are you a transfer student?
You are a transfer student if you have completed any number of college credits after graduating from high school or earning a GED, or if you are enrolled in your first semester of college course work at the time you apply.
While credit earned prior to high school graduation can be considered for transfer to CU Denver, only college or university credit hours taken after graduation from high school or earning a GED are considered in the transfer student admissions requirements outlined below.
Admission Consideration
- Students with 23 or fewer semester hours of completed college-level course work at the time of application are considered for admission based on high school GPA, high school courses/units completed, ACT or SAT scores and college or university GPA.
- Students with 24 or more semester hours of completed college-level course work at the time of application are considered for admission based primarily upon performance in college courses.
GPA
The cumulative GPA is calculated as or converted to a 4.0 scale and will include all college or university course work attempted, including course work from foreign institutions.
Guaranteed Admission
Through the CU Denver Guaranteed Admission policy, students who complete an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree at a Colorado Community College System (CCCS) institution are guaranteed admission to CU Denver. Students may be asked to submit proof of graduation and are required to submit an application to be admitted. Please visit the CCCS website for a complete list of eligible community colleges.
Note: This guarantee may not apply in cases involving conduct or criminal history disclosures, or other exceptional circumstances.
CU Denver Transfer Degree Maps
CU Denver Transfer Degree Maps assist Colorado community college students who plan on transferring to CU Denver. In close partnership with the Colorado Community College System (CCCS), CU Denver Transfer Degree Maps provide school/college specific degree plan information; outlining courses that can be taken in the first two years at a Colorado community college, as well as the courses that remain to be taken at CU Denver towards completion of a baccalaureate degree. By following the recommendations on the Transfer Degree Maps, community college students will be best prepared to transfer to CU Denver seamlessly; graduating on time (per school or college timelines), with minimal debt or loss of transfer credit.
Students attending a four-year within Colorado and/or an out of state institution, may use the Transfer Degree Maps as a reference to their intended degree courses and requirements, but are encouraged to use CU Denver’s Transferology tool to identify specific course transferability, as well as connect with a pre-transfer advisor at CU Denver (at least one semester prior to their intended semester of enrollment).
Note: Transfer Degree Maps are updated per each academic year and may change with recently approved course updates. We highly encourage you to connect with a CU Denver academic advisor (at least one semester prior to your intended semester of enrollment) in your discipline for pre-transfer advising- specifically tailored to your degree goals and progression.
Transfer Admission Requirements*

Note: Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in business will not be accepted for second undergraduate degree-seeking status in the Business School, as it is encouraged to pursue a graduate degree in business.

CU Denver students may apply to a major or Pre-Engineering through an Intra-University Transfer (IUT) after they have completed 12 or more CU Denver credit hours.

BS in Electrical Engineering

Minimum 2.5 overall GPA with a grade of B- or better in Calculus I OR
Minimum 2.5 overall GPA AND a minimum 2.5 GPA (based on most recent course attempts) in Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus-based Physics I with corresponding lab, with a grade of C- or better in each course.
NOTE: For admission into the computer science program, calculus-based Physics I is not required, but will be accepted.
Admission to pre-engineering for Bachelor of Science programs above and Direct admission to:
BA in Computer Science
BS in Construction Management
BS in Cybersecurity
Minimum 2.5 overall GPA
Completion of at least one of the following courses with a grade of C or better: College Algebra*, College Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, or Calculus II
*Includes completion of a two-course stretch college algebra sequence (MATH 1108. & MATH 1109)
