With a broad selection of courses and research experiences, our faculty serve a critical role-mentoring students in prospective careers in health sciences, teaching, and research. Students have access to unique opportunities and resources at both the downtown Denver and Anschutz Medical campuses.

Introduces students to the complex interplay between social movements and the processes for initiating and consolidating democracies. Students examine relevant theoretical and methodological literature and apply it to current circumstances by taking specified courses in the major subfields of political science: American, comparative, international politics, and political theory.

Offers instruction in the physical and biological dynamics of various ecosystems, environmental engineering, and socioeconomic issues associated with environmental analysis. Students may pursue careers encompassing a broad range of professions, from those with a strong foundation in the natural and physical sciences or engineering to those based in the social sciences and humanities.

Offers maximum flexibility for students whose interests and professional aspirations span many disciplines. Guided by advisors, students take the initiative to direct their own education by choosing from among a large set of courses offered across the Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Denver campuses, and through required experiential learning opportunities.

This minor is an ideal for the liberal arts student, providing exposure to the concepts and techniques utilized in investigating environmental issues, socioeconomic conditions, and/or planning policies.

Offers unique sociological training that prepares students to be sociology generalists, or concentrate on criminology and law, medical sociology, or families and welfare. Students develop strong foundations in qualitative and quantitative methods and have access to resources through the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Fulfills the increasing needs of educators seeking to broaden their content specialization and allows English master’s candidates to specialize in an additional area of study. This does not grant state licensure but ensures competency for those already licensed, provides expertise documentation for those teaching in community colleges, and enables specialization for those with master’s degrees in related fields.

For more than 30 years, the Denver Community Leadership Program (DCLF) has supported individuals who are called to work on our communities’ most complex issues — those that can’t be solved by one individual, one organization or one sector. This type of leadership requires values, skills, relationships, perspectives and actions beyond a traditional leadership approach. While critical for collaborative and adaptive situations, this leadership approach is also powerful and relevant within any organization or community.
