Event and News Feeds
Overview
A News and Event Feed is a styled component that displays content from an RSS Feed in a visually consistent format. It automatically pulls updates from external sources, such as campus news or event calendars, and presents them within the site for easy browsing.
The CU Denver website utilizes two types of RSS Feed Components with pre-built styling:
When to Use
- Displaying university news from official RSS Feeds.
- Showcasing upcoming events from a centralized calendar.
- Keeping pages fresh with automated content updates.
How To
Important Note: This component pulls information from the Content Type: RSS Feeds. You must create the RSS Feed first before it can be added to the page.
Create a News Feed
The News Feed is used to showcase any article RSS Feed that you need to embed on a website.
How To Create a News Feed
- Navigate to the page you’d like to update, and enter the Edit Mode for the page.
- Choose the Section you would like to add the component, click the plus (+) icon.
- Select the News Feed Component for the component list.
Add a Component Header
- Click Add A Component Header if you want to add a heading, subheading, and buttons above the News Feed.
Select the RSS Feed
- Select the desired RSS Feed from the list.
- Note: This component pulls information from the RSS Dynamic Content Type. If you want to set up a new feed to display, you must set it up as a RSS Feed content type first.

Add an Events Feeds
The Events Feed highlights upcoming events and lists the date, title, and brief description. This content pulls from RSS Feeds generated from calendar.ucdenver.edu.
How To Create an Events Feed
- Navigate to the page you’d like to update, and enter the Edit Mode for the page
- Choose the Section you would like to add the block, click the plus (+) icon.
- Select the Events Feed Component for the component list
Add a Component Header
- Click Add A Component Header if you want to add a heading, subheading, and buttons above the Event Feeds.
Select the RSS Feed
- Select the desired RSS Feed from the list.
- Note: This component pulls information from the RSS Dynamic Content Type. If you want to set up a new feed to display, you must set it up as a RSS Feed content type first.
