After You Apply

Your application deadline and the review timeline will vary based on the program you are applying to. Some programs have rolling admission deadlines and will notify you of a decision two to three weeks after you submit your application. Others, like those that are cohort-based, have only one entry term (such as fall), or require an interview as part of the application process, may take several months to process. Be sure to reach out to your specific program of interest for more details. 

The review process generally resembles the following: 

1. Application  

The first step is to prepare and submit your application materials through the online application system by the deadline set by your intended graduate program. 

2. Evaluation  

After you submit your application, it is routed to your graduate program for review by an admission committee. Some programs conduct interviews as part of the evaluation process. 

3. Decision  

Your graduate program communicates the admission decision to you once it is finalized by the admission committee. 

4. Response  

If you are admitted, you must respond to the offer of admission by the deadline set by your program. Some programs host “visit days” or other admitted student events to help you make an informed decision. 

5. Verification  

If you accept the offer of admission, you must arrange for your official transcripts and degree documents to be sent to CU Denver for verification. 

6. Matriculation  

After your official documents are reviewed, you are matriculated into your degree program. At this point, you are eligible to enroll in courses if you have no enrollment holds on your record. 

7. Enrollment  

The last step is to register for classes. Depending on your program, you may need to speak with an advisor or complete a different process.
