Strategic Plan Engagement and Advocacy Committee

The Strategic Plan Engagement and Advocacy Committee (SPEAC) was established in Spring 2022 to support implementation of the 2030 Strategic Plan by serving as a conduit for information and engagement within their local communities. 

Charge

SPEAC is a crucial partner in the operationalization of the 2030 Strategic Plan. SPEAC members regularly engage with colleagues within the schools, colleges and units they represent in order to share information about the strategic plan projects and to gather local input on topics related to the strategic plan. Through this process, SPEAC creates a campuswide feedback loop ensuring consistent and open channels of communication.

Members of SPEAC have the following responsibilities:

• Inform and educate colleagues about strategic work/projects across campus 
• Elevate voices, perspective, and input from schools, colleges and units to CU Denver leadership 
• Periodically engage with leaders, including cabinet members sponsoring strategic projects, to share perspectives

SPEAC members also have annual opportunities to access unique professional development opportunities.

Meetings

The full committee meets four times per year. In addition, members from the Office of Strategic Impact meet with SPEAC members and their school/college or unit leader on an annual basis to discuss connections between the strategic plan and their local efforts, to gather input, and to answer questions regarding strategic plan-related projects.

Membership

Committee members are nominated by Deans and unit leaders to serve 2-year terms as SPEAC members. Schools and colleges typically have one faculty and one staff member representative. The committee meets bi-monthly during the academic year. New members are added periodically to fill vacancies and ensure representation across all schools, colleges, units and shared governance bodies. All members are serving at-will.
