Time is of the Essence

Many academic programs limit the credits you can take abroad, and it’s sometimes strategic to travel as soon as the summer after your first year of college. Now is the time to determine when and where you’ll study abroad.

Study Abroad Strengthens Career Outcomes Across Sectors

The Forum on Education Abroad recently released a study examining career outcomes of students who study abroad versus those who don’t. The study’s authors conclude:

This study shows that education abroad is more than a formative academic experience – it is also a strategic workforce development tool. Graduates who study abroad gain measurable advantages in the job market. They enter a wide range of careers equipped with adaptability, communication, and problem-solving skills that employers need. They often gravitate toward high-earning fields like engineering, marketing, and public relations. In certain industries such as IT, education, healthcare, and finance, they take on leadership roles more often than their peers. At the three-year mark of their careers, they are enjoying an earnings premium of around $1,000. Nationally, study abroad alumni currently add $1.8 billion in income to the economy and support 17,313 jobs.

Make Memories That Will Last a Lifetime

Many students and graduates cite studying abroad as one of the most important experiences of their time in college. Explore breathtaking places, make new friends, broaden your horizons, sharpen your workplace competencies, and experience immense personal growth.

Study abroad program representatives share program information with CU Denver students at the spring 2025 study abroad fair.
