    The Office of Case Management values providing caring, compassionate, and supportive services to students. Our office adheres to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics when serving the campus population. This may include honoring student autonomy and privacy and complying with FERPA, disclosure of student personally identifiable information is limited to the discretion of the student. Reporting parties will receive an email from a case manager confirming we have received the referral for the individual and may ask additional information from the reporting party.

    You were contacted by a case manager because you were either the reporting party to a CARE referral and case manager’s make it a practice to confirm that this referral has been received and may ask clarifying questions or requesting updates since the Referral was submitted.

    If you are the individual for whom the CARE referral was submitted; whenever we receive this type of information about students, it is our practice to reach out and invite them to sit down with a case manager to talk about classes, discuss available resources on campus, and explore any additional support the student may need.

    Our office helps students navigate university systems, offices, and can assist with professor notifications, advocacy, medical withdrawals, retroactive withdrawal processes, housing resources, etc.

    The Campus Assessment Response and Evaluation Team is a multidisciplinary team who operate as a hub for receiving and addressing concerns for students related to their safety and the safety of other students. The team is comprised of the Office of Case Management, Student Conduct, Housing and Dining, Dean of Students, Office of Equity (who deal with Title IX complaints), The CU Counseling Center, and Auraria PD.

    When you become worried about a student, deciding when to intervene can be confusing. Additionally, the number of resources available to assist students can be overwhelming. The CARE Team is here to help. When in doubt, submit a concern or call 303-315-7306 for consultation. It’s always better to err on the side of caution and report behaviors you think may be of concern.     In instances of imminent or immediate harm, you can call either Auraria PD at 303-556-5000 or DPD’s 911.

    Any CU community member (staff, student, faculty) or family member of someone of the CU community that has any concerns related to resource insecurity, safety, wellbeing, or health concerns is welcome to submit a CARE referral to connect with our team, even if it’s for yourself!
